How to determine the type of Ethernet interface you have:
Posted by Freddy M on 02 April 2018 02:29 PM

On Windows 10, search for Network and Sharing Center>Change adapter settings and double click your Ethernet connection.

If speed states 1.0 Gbps, your device capable for higher speeds up to 1000Mbps. If your Speed shows 100 Mbps, the device is older and has a limitation.

For Macs;

Open your Apple Menu>System Preference>Network>(highlight Ethernet) click Advanced>Hardware there you will be able to see your speed your device is capable of. 1000baseT will mean 1000 Mbps(1Gbps) and 100BaseTX will mean it can only 100 Mbps.
